Consisting of multiple injectors, silos and valves, Autopowder lets you add several ingredients automatically into the same mixing tank. This means you can produce high volumes of a range of products with common base ingredients, at the touch of a button. Once the recipes have been programmed, the automated mixing system does the rest. Thanks to reduced manual handling, it’s hygienic, safe and efficient.
Built on ground-breaking technologies
During five decades of total focus on the CSD and soft drinks market, Miteco has pioneered several highly efficient methods for powder conveying, ingredients introduction and mixing. These form the basis of the Autopowder system:
- Hydraulic conveying is a uniquely flexible way of picking up ingredients from any number of different sources outside the mixing tank. Each pick up-point has an injector, valves and pipes, but the whole system only requires one pump. This method also enables hazardous areas to be confined and easily separated from safe areas such as the syrup room.
- The ingredients are added using another breakthrough technology by Miteco, the Coaxial Injector, which introduces the powder into liquid flowing at high velocity. A natural turbulence in the pipes means the dry ingredients are already partially mixed on their way to the mixing tank.
- The mixing tank itself is equipped with Miteco’s Radial Jet Mixer - a core component consisting of a pump and a nozzle. A radial deflector on the nozzle distributes powder homogeneously, enabling short mixing times and a very simple tank design.
- Each ingredient silo is recipe driven and automatically filled to the correct weight by dedicated weighing scales.

Our first hallmark innovation came in the late 1970s, with the introduction of the Radial Jet Mixer into the beverage industry. Cleverly eliminating the need for any moving parts inside the tank, the Radial Jet Mixer is now a core component in almost every Miteco product. It accelerates mixing times and improves the mixing effect while significantly reducing maintenance needs.
In the following decade we introduced continuous production in CSD processing, enabling unprecedented economies of scale. Our continuous sugar dissolver made customers’ production more dynamic while saving space in their plants. And our syrup - and later also beverage - blending offer, with its patented recirculation technologies, meant they could manufacture CSD in different ways, knowing that the results would always be ‘right first time’.
The Miteco Multi-blender was another breakthrough. Originally designed to solve one customer’s particular problem, this product is now in use all over the world. It can comprise up to four blenders in one unit, thereby cutting down the number of line components from eight to five and instantly delivering 20 % savings.
Never a company to stand still, in the 1990s Miteco complemented the Radial Jet Mixer with a patented Coaxial Injector. By introducing powder into the zone of maximum turbulence, this injector over- comes the two key challenges of powder dissolving: sufficient wetting and clogging. Positioned remotely from the mixing tank, it also enables greater flexibility in plant layout and secures the separation of safe working areas from hazardous ATEX zones.

More recently, we came up with the IBC agitator, which solves the problem of mixing small volumes of extremely viscous concentrates inside large containers with only a small access hole. The ingenious IBC agitator has proved so successful that major beverage producers are now specifying it for use with their concentrates.

Fully integrated production systems
In 2012, one such customer contracted Miteco to supply a complete new plant. It included a processing system to supply a combination of high-speed CSD and squash lines - all of which were to be physically integrated with the existing production lines in an adjacent building. Digital integration was also required, and successfully accomplished. For the client, Miteco represented flexibility, a willingness to under- stand their needs and meet them with well-respected knowhow.
In a subsequent project in 2014, we adapted our standard-design blender to free up enough space in the plant for future expansion and the realisation of the customer’s long-term vision.
Going beyond expectations
Miteco carried out a similar project for a second soft drinks manu-facturer in 2016. Employing patented technologies such as Coaxial Injection and Radial Jet Mixing, we were able to offer this company a simpler, more efficient plant design than they had initially envisaged. Even before the contract was completed, they were talking to us about the possibility of a more structured partnership. We now have a trust-based relationship, which involves actively challenging the customer’s own proposals on a level of detail that other suppliers find hard to match. They describe Miteco as “the only supplier able to offer innovative, alternative processing solutions, tailored specifically to our needs.”

Since there are no moving parts in the tank itself, the RJM also simplifies tank design.

Already from the start of the acquisition of Miteco it was clear that we wanted to maintain and leverage on the long experience, competence, flexibility and innovational spirit that Miteco is so well known for. We have therefore consciously proceeded with integration activities carefully.
During the last 2 years we have carefully analyzed the situation at the same time as we have maintained our services to our customers. We are now excited to be ready to take the next few steps. Miteco A Tetra Pak® company will be the core of our CSD competence. We will continue to work directly with large CSD projects and deliver excellent solutions and plants. However, with our Tetra Pak Market Companies we have a much better presence in the market and they are our main sales channel to the market. Miteco, part of the Tetra Pak group since 2014, will present its portfolio of production solutions for carbonated soft drinks at Drinktec in Munich. The highlight is a fully automated powder introduction and dissolving system. From ERP level via the recipe management it weighs and dissolves different powders before finally released in the correct mixing tank for further processing.
