Crystal sugar (not refined)
The particular challenge in processing unrefined raw sugar lies in its preparation and standardisation. The preparation process for the cheaper unrefined raw sugar offered on the world market should not be so expensive as to eradicate any savings made, otherwise its use would be uneconomical. The continuous flocculation and flotation unit Contiflot® offers one-stage sugar and activated carbon metering and is highly efficient at removing colloids. This relieves the pressure on downstream activated carbon and ion exchanger units, which can also be used for the decolourisation of non-colloid containing sugar solutions with low and medium colour contents. Storage and conveying units for raw sugar are of course designed according to the particular characteristics of the material.
